Jennifer Robitaille is a self-taught artist that works with watercolor, oils and acrylic mediums. Historically, she has painted from reference photographs and is currently enjoying leaving her studio to paint en plein air. The challenge of capturing the shifting light and the mood of the subject matter has allowed Jennifer to gain a stronger sense of values and use of color in her paintings.

She is inspired by the contemporary artists, Samuel Earp, Andrew Wyeth, John Sargent Singer and Edward Hopper.  Her pallet is based on Johanne Vemeer's pallet used to create "The Milkmaiden". 

Her portraits are based on realism but she breaks out more freely when painting landscapes. Her brush strokes are bolder whether painting a sky or capturing pools of water. She prefers painting more with her intuition and letting the painting take her on a journey of discovery rather than trying hyper realism.  It is her belief that by releasing the pressure to be perfect, she is feeling freer to capture the essence of what she is seeing in the landscape and transferring that feeling into the paintings.

Jennifer has started to experiment more in oils and creating Figurative Art. I just love host contemportary artists, like Andrew Wyeth, Alex Couville and Norman Rockwell are able to invoke emotion through their story telling. Their simplistic use of composition and color are simply masterful and cannot be overlooked."
