From early 1900's to 1970's, flat boats were used to coral logs floating on the Ottawa River.  These boats eventually replaced the Lumberjacks and evenutally the construction of rail lines and roads resulted in logs transported directly to lumber mills instead of running the timber on the Ottawa River.
